Phase Two

Phase Two begins tomorrow (8th day). At this stage only protein and food "out of a box" are allowed. Food "out of a box" is considered Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, Weight Watchers, etc. If you have ever dieted before then you are well aware of what boxed food we are referring too. If not, then here is a picture for you.

We will be doing this Phase for 2 weeks. Then on to Phase 3.
Here is the diet for the next two weeks:
Breakfast: Protein Shake
Snack 1 Hour before Lunch: Protein bar, pudding, oatmeal, or soup.
Lunch: Box entree 250-300 Calories
Afternoon Snack: Protein Shake
Dinner/Supper: Box entree 250-300 Calories
PM Snack: Protein bar, pudding, oatmeal, or soup.

Total Calorie intake: 1,000-1,200

Drink plenty of water and take a multivitamin.

If you have a favorite Box Entree that you love, that is between 250-300 calories, please feel free to share it with us! We are going to need all the tips we can get!

Remember you can have diet sodas, unsweet tea, or coffee with sugar substitute.

Good Luck! If you are joining the good fight then let us know your progress, how you stay motivated and if you have a buddy and what you guys do together. My buddy is Alyson and we text and talk on the phone a bunch of times a day LOL and call each other when we are feeling weak! She saved me from fried pickles on day 4! LOL!

Final Day of Phase One

Although I have run out of money and my stomach can't take much more of the protein shakes, day 7 is almost over. I just weighed in on the WII and have officially lost 4.2lbs and my BMI has dropped approximately .73 points. I have a long way to go! I must say 7 days without any solid foods is hard to do and you just have to stay focused. I had to tell a hamburger joint in Deridder NO when visiting my older sister. I have had to pass up McDonalds at least 5 times this week and watched several funnel cakes and corn dogs pass me by at the Jockey Lot in Lafayette, La. Protein shakes suck after the 4th day and I wanted to hurt someone at the end of the 3rd day, but I made it and so did Alyson. *High Five*

Day 2! Still Alive!

It's day two and I wasn't hungry at all today except that time my mom said there were pickles on her counter and I jumped up to get one and then thought...DANG! No go. I did well except for drinking no water today, yeah you read right, no water. I'm bad about that. Also, I didn't finish drinking my shakes. That is not good because that is why I'm fat. So everyone...gather round and slap my hand. Tomorrow, no mistakes!

Interview for a job tomorrow that I really want. Hope my stomach doesn't growl!

I just got off the phone with Alyson, this is what good support is about and makes all the difference between success and failure. I have a headache, just found out that we can do black coffee and diet sodas (in moderation). I'm a caffeine addict so this is good news for me. I've been having a headache all day. However, we are going to limit it. No more then 2 diet sodas a day to start. When I get to Phase Two, I think I will go down to one a day. Carbonated drinks are bad for your bones, and I really need improvement in this area. It is now 6pm central time and I am sipping on a diet mountain dew and water. I still have a protein shake left which I will try to get in around 8pm central. This is probably too late, as your last meal of the day should probably be before 7pm and your snack should be around 8pm-ish. I'm not sure about this but I'm sure after some time doing this diet and learning more that this topic will come up. When I was in a diet program (that worked by the way but I was lazy), I realized that I was fat because I didn't eat enough. Sounds unlikely? Well, guess what...after talking to a doctor about it on several different occassions and after some reading, its definitely true. Food is your fuel, like gas is to a car. If you don't put fuel in your body then it won't run properly and your metabolism slows. Your body starts to think you are starving it and so it holds stuff instead of burning it off for your metabolism. Also, when you do this, your plateau increases every time. Say you started off with your plateau weight being 200 lbs. Next time you lose a bunch of weight improperly then gain it back, you are more then likely to have a new plateau of 210lbs. (This is just an example). The largest I ever got in high school was 198lbs, I could eat whatever I wanted and never got bigger then that. However, after bad dieting and not maintaining, the largest I have ever weighed is 250lbs. If I'm not mistaken your fat cells never go away, you just make more of them and then they shrink as you lose weight. Don't quote me on that. We will all learn together on this journey. The point of me doing this diet was to show that I could lose weight on it too without having the surgery. We will see. Once I have entered Phase 3 of the diet however, and my friend has had the surgery, I will start to exercise and continue to eat like I am in Phase 3 of the diet. Tonight I will weigh and measure myself. And yes, I will make this public. Some say, "I can't believe you will publish that!" My response is, "Seriously? Its me, there is nothing wrong with being me." I have always felt that way whether fat or skinny. I'm me and you will just have to take it either way or move over and let me pass!

VOOM VOOM! Coming through!

Okay, Day One. I'm hungry.

Of course I would be hungry. Did I think this would be a breeze? No. I quit smoking about 8mths ago and if I can do that then I can definitely do this. I'm going to treat it just like I did when I quit smoking. When the cravings hit, just say no. It's a simple concept but not simple at all. I already had my large meal replacement drink for 300 calories and 42 grams of protein. Shortly after, I had my protein bar for 200 calories and 20 grams of protein. I have drank almost a full bottle of water. Drinking water is hard for me. I have some crystal light packets that I may try later to add to my water. I'm about to take my multivitamin and drink some more water. I'll have a small shake around four and then another one around seven, to see how that works out.

I talked to Alyson on the phone earlier, she told me to just type:

"I'm hungry." "I'm hungry." "I'm hungry."

There, I feel better.

Preparing...My Stomach Already Hurts!

I just got back from Wal-Mart to purchase my meal replacement drinks and bars. Here is what the preliminary diet calls for before the surgery:

The "Fasting" Phase: (NO FOOD!)

I went with option B, which is as follows:
3 Meal Replacement Drinks plus 1 Protein Bar per day
Calories=840-890
Protein=140g

You know that you can never find it exactly, so here is what I got and what I will be eating (I mean drinking) for the next 7 days:
1 Meal Replacement Drink 300 Calories per bottle + 42 g of Protein
2 Meal Replacement Drinks 170 Calories per bottle each + 20 g of Protein
1 Protein Bar 200 Calories + 20 g of Protein

(My stomach already hates me...)
For a Total of:
840 Calories a day + 102 g of Protein a day

*Notice I am short for my protein with a chance of looking like...

OMG! That is almost as bad as being fat! No disrespect to professional body builders...I'm not one so for me this is not good for my body either.

Tomorrow Starts Day One

Oh geeze!
I was just dosing off when I heard my cellphone alert me to the fact that I had a voicemail, it pulled me right out of the zone. I got up and saw that it was from my best friend Alyson. I thought, oh no...she remembered. Who would forget?! She recently called me to let me know that she wanted to get the LAP-BAND® procedure done. I'm always the voice of reason, its why my friends and family call me. I thought she wanted me to talk her out of it, I am regularly the voice of opposition as well on such topics as weight loss surgery. After trying to convince her out of it for about forty-five minutes and saying the routine "we are fat because we are lazy", "you don't need surgery", "we need to exercise and eat right", "anyone who eats their diet would loose weight", yada yada, she says "I'm still doing it". I immediately went into my support mode following up with, "if this is really what you want I will support you", etc. Well, somewhere in that conversation I told her that I would do the diet with her that they give you before surgery just to prove to her that anyone can loose weight on their diet plan with surgery or before surgery. So...here I am. However, after her consultation with the doctor she decided to go with the gastric bypass. I am anti-gastric bypass. I mean...have you seen Carnie Wilson? Its not a cure all. You still have bad habits of eating too much, not exercising, and your not going to learn these things with surgery alone.
Bottom line: She is my best friend and I promised her I would do it. It doesn't matter which procedure she does, I will do the diet with her. Its not just about proving a point, its also about supporting my friend and she thinks me doing this blog is funny...She laughs at the word Fat-Famous and wants to make sure I mention her name in this blog, so here it is girlfriend and Good Luck!!!
Alyson, Alyson, Alyson, Alyson, Alyson!
Now I have to go look at the 18 pages of program diet material she just faxed me. Ugh! Tomorrow is day one...yikes!

youre fat
